SikaFlex 527 AT Hybrid sealant white 400ml/550g
DESCRIPTION
Sikaflex®-527 AT is a 1-component STP sealant
(Silan Terminated Polymer) which cures
atmospheric humidity. Putty is created for
multi-purpose elastic joints in the interior and exterior of the vehicle body.
Sikaflex®-527 AT adheres well to most materials commonly used in body shops.
ADVANTAGES
Fast curing
Excellent working properties
Can be painted over using water-based paints
Good adhesion to various substrates without the need for a primer
Resistance to aging and weathering
Low odor
Non-corrosive
Without solvents and isocyanates
Without silicones and PVC
Use
Sikaflex®-527 AT is suitable for joint and spar sealing, simple gluing and also as a measure to reduce vibrations and dampen noise in the repair of vehicle body structures after collisions. Sikaflex®-527 AT adheres well to most materials commonly used in body shops, eg primers and coatings on metals, metals, painted plastics and plastics. Before using Sikaflex®-527 AT on materials prone to stress cracking (ESC), contact Sika Industry Technical Support and have tests carried out on original substrates. Sikaflex®-527 AT is suitable for professional users, before application it is necessary to carry out adhesion and compatibility tests of the materials with current substrates and conditions.
CURE MECHANISM
Sikaflex®-527 AT cures using atmospheric moisture. At low temperatures, there is less water content in the air, which affects the speed of the reaction, hardening will slow down, see Diagram 1.
CHEMICAL RESISTANCE
Sikaflex®-527 AT is generally resistant to water, salt water, dilute acids and dilute caustic solutions; temporarily resistant to fuels, mineral oils, vegetable and animal fats and oils. It is not resistant to organic acids, glycolic alcohol, concentrated mineral acids and caustic solutions or solvents.
Preparation of documents
The surface must be clean, dry and free of grease, oil, dust and other impurities.
The surface treatment depends on the specific nature of the substrates and is decisive for a long-lasting bond. The surface treatment depends on the specific nature of the substrates and is decisive for a long-lasting bond. Suggestions for surface preparation can be found in the current edition of the Sika® Pre-treatment Chart guidelines. All pre-treatment steps are designed based on experience and must be confirmed by preliminary tests on original materials with regard to specific conditions in the assembly process.
APPLICATION
Sikaflex®-527 AT can be applied between 5°C and 40°C, taking into account changes in reactivity and application properties at different temperatures. The optimal temperature of the substrate and the adhesive is between 15 °C and 25 °C.
Sikaflex®-527 AT can be applied using a manual, pneumatic or AKU gun.
Smoothing and embedding the surface
Adjustment and finishing must be done during the skin formation period. It is recommended to use Sika® Tooling Agent N. Other finishing agents must be tested for suitability and compatibility before use.
Removal
Uncured Sikaflex®-527 AT can be removed from tools and equipment using Sika® Remover-208 or other suitable thinner. Once the glue has hardened, the material must be removed mechanically.
Hands or other affected body parts must be cleaned immediately with cleaning wipes such as Sika® Cleaner-350H or another suitable industrial cleaner and water. Never clean your skin with thinner!
Recoatability
Sikaflex®-527 AT is best applied during the skin formation period. If the coating process takes place after the sealant has formed a surface skin, adhesion can be improved by treating the joint surface with Sika®Aktivator-100 or Sika®Aktivator-205 prior to the coating process.
If the paint requires a firing process (> 80 °C), you will get the best result if the glue itself is fully cured. All colors must be tested by performing preliminary tests in production conditions. The elasticity of paints is usually lower than that of sealants themselves. This could lead to cracking of the paint in the area of the glued joint.
