DESCRIPTION
Sika® Aktivator-205 is a colorless activator that reacts with moisture to form an active layer on the surface of the substrate. These active groups act as a link between substrates and primers or sealants/adhesives.
Sika® Aktivator-205 is intended for the preparation of non-porous bonded surfaces before the application of adhesives and sealants of the Sikaflex® and Sikasil® product lines.

AREAS OF USE
Sika® Aktivator-205 is used to improve the adhesion of non-porous materials such as metals, plastics, ceramic screen prints and painted surfaces. In case it is necessary to use Sika®
Activator-205 on materials susceptible to stress cracking (ESC), it is necessary to contact the Sika Industry technical center and carry out verification / approval tests.
This product is only suitable for professional use. Adhesion tests must be carried out with the current materials and conditions before application.

METHOD OF APPLICATION OF PENETRATION
The surface must be clean, dry and free of grease, oil, dust and other contamination.
Adhesion of substrates can be improved by combining different pre-treatment processes such as roughening and cleaning before the actual application of the activator.
Primer application
Never insert a paper towel into the activator bottle, as this may contaminate the entire package.
Clean the glued surfaces with a clean, lint-free, damp (not wet) paper towel. Wipe the surface only with the clean side of the cloth. One paper towel can only be moistened once and must be changed frequently.
Sika® Aktivator-205 must be applied sparingly, as an excess of activator could lead to adhesion failure. In the event that the pre-treated surface cannot be joined (glued) within the maximum allowed time of airing out the activator, the entire
repeat the process, but only once. The ideal surface temperature for application is 15°C to 25°C. The consumption and method of application depends on the specific nature of the substrates. Close the container tightly immediately after each use.

IMPORTANT NOTES
Sika® Aktivator-205 contains a solvent that may dull the surface finish of some freshly applied paints. In such cases, contact Sika Industry's technical department, who will carry out preliminary tests. Never apply Sika® Aktivator-205 to porous substrates, as it may not completely air out
and may prevent the adhesive or sealant from hardening.
If necessary, protect non-glued surfaces with e.g. tape to avoid contamination of the non-glued surface. In the event that the unbonded surface of Sika® Aktivator-205 becomes contaminated, wipe it immediately with a clean, dry cloth. Sika® Aktivator-205 is a system that reacts with air humidity. In order to maintain the quality of the product, it is important to reseal the packaging with the inner plastic insert immediately after use. After finishing the pre-treatment of the surface, the bottle must be closed both with an inner plastic insert and the cap must be screwed on. Prolonged exposure to atmospheric moisture will cause Sika® Aktivator205 to become inactive. Discard Sika® Aktivator-205 immediately if it becomes opaque instead of clear. Dispose of the product approx. one month after opening if used frequently or after two months if used irregularly.
Never dilute or mix Sika® Aktivator-205 with other substances. It must not be used for processing/smoothing products or as a cleaning agent. Adequate UV protection is essential when used on transparent or translucent substrates such as float glass, plastics, etc.
