Product advantages

Description
Sikaflex®-529 AT is sprayable, a low-component, moisture-curing elastomer-curing PUR hybrid-based sealant for sealing joints, especially car bodies. Sikaflex®-529 AT is based on Sika / silane polymer technology and does not contain any isocyanates. Sikaflex®-529 AT is manufactured in accordance with
with ISO 9001 and 14001 quality standards and in accordance with the «Responsible Care» program.

Fields of application
Sikaflex®-529 AT is intended for sealing interlaced joints of thin parts, part edges and internal welds, especially during body work. Sikaflex®-529 AT improves protection against mechanical damage and corrosion. For Sikaflex®-529 AT, suitable base materials are metal, base
or topcoats, plastics. This product is only suitable for professional users. Prior to application, it is necessary to perform adhesion tests with current materials and conditions.

Curing mechanism
Sikaflex®-529 AT cures by reaction with air humidity. At lower temperatures, the moisture content of the air is lower and the curing reaction proceeds more slowly.

Chemical resistance
Sikaflex®-529 AT, when cured, is resistant to water, seawater, water-miscible cleaning agent, short-term resistant to fuels, mineral oils, as well as vegetable and animal fats and oils; Sikaflex®-529 AT is not resistant to solvents, thinners, organic acids, alcohol and some other aggressive materials. These data are for guidance only due to the wide range of influencing materials and conditions. Mandatory assessment is conditioned by an object test.

Processing instructions
Preparation of documents
The surfaces of the part must be clean, dry, free of grease, oil, wax or other release agents. Surface adhesion can be increased by cleaning and activating Sika®Cleaner 205.

Monoports: Before inserting into the Sika®Jetflow gun, the clip must be cut off, the nozzle adapter fitted and screwed on according to the marked starting position.
spray head, connect the air supply. Air pressure at least 5 bar, open both valves. Apply the sealant to the sealed joint with a gun. See also our Sika® Jetflow Gun Operating Instructions. Open unprocessed sealant can only be stored for a short time. Do not apply below 5 ° C or above 40 ° C. The optimal material temperature of the part is between + 15 ° C and + 25

Finishing job
Sikaflex®-529 AT can be applied with a brush or trowel after application. Finishing work must be carried out within the open time of the sealant. We recommend the use of smoothing Sika® Tooling Agent N. Other smoothing agents must be tested following application.

Removing the rest of the sealant
before curing, soiled surfaces and tools can be cleaned with Sika® Remover 208. Cured material can only be removed mechanically. Hands can be cleaned with Sika® Handclean or washing paste and rinsed with water. Do not use solvents!

Repainting
Sikaflex®-529 AT can be repainted with the most common systems used in the automotive industry (including water-based paints). Alkyd or acedic paints cannot be used. In the case of thermosetting varnishes, allow Sikaflex®-529 AT to fully cure beforehand. Wet repainting can be performed up to 72 hours after application of Sikaflex®-529 AT. To achieve the best material properties, it is advisable to let the sealant fully cure before subsequent applications. Surface adhesion can be increased with Sika® Cleaner 205 before painting. In the case of a flexible connection of a part, cracks often occur in the substantially harder layer of paint due to deformations. In a critical case, this crack can also propagate into the flexible joint and cause a leak failure.
