SikaLastomer-710 General purpose butyl sealant 310ml

Butyl Sealant. Putty based on butyl rubber, which reacts from a pasty to a plastoelastic state at normal temperature. It is used for sealing joints in the structures of road or rail vehicles, superstructures, trailers.

DESCRIPTION
SikaLastomer®-710 is a non-flowing, paste-like sealant based on butyl. Curing takes place by physical drying. This product can be used as a plastic joint sealant in many industries.

AREAS OF USE
SikaLastomer®-710 is particularly suitable for plastic sealants that can be dismantled. You can
use it in the car, bus, truck and caravan industry. SikaLastomer®-710 exhibits good adhesion with minimal need for pre-treatment to almost all commonly used substrates used in the above fields.
This product is intended for professional use, prior to application adhesion tests must be performed with actual substrates and conditions such as fibers and cleaning agents to demonstrate material compatibility.

CHEMICAL RESISTANCE
SikaLastomer®-710 is generally resistant to fresh water, sea water, lime water and water-based cleaning agents. SikaLastomer®-710 is weakly resistant to fuel, mineral oils, vegetable and animal fats. The above information is based on experience and must in any case be verified by tests on original materials with regard to the potential chemical or thermal exposure of the given project.

METHOD OF APPLICATION

Preparation of documents
The surface must be clean, free of dust, grease, oils and water. If adhesion has a high priority, it must be verified by tests on original substrates.

Application
Apply the sealant to the joint with a suitable manual or air gun. Make sure there is no air entrapment. Do not apply the sealant at temperatures below 10°C or above 35°C.

Smoothing and embedding the surface
The joints created by SikaLastomer®-710 are easy to repair with soap and water.

Removal
On non-porous surfaces, allow the sealant to dry and remove by tapping. On porous surfaces, cured SikaLastomer®-710 can only be removed mechanically. Hands and exposed skin should be treated immediately with Sika® Cleaner-350H wipes or other suitable industrial hand cleaner, water.
Do not use solvents on the skin.

Recoatability
SikaLastomer®-710 can only be overcoated with some water-based systems. The coating must be tested for compatibility by performing preliminary tests. The elasticity of paints is usually lower than that of sealants, which could lead to cracking of the paint in the joint area.
